Nevan Krogan
May 2009Nevan Krogan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cellular & Molecular Pharmacology with his lab in the 3rd floor-North neighborhood of Byers Hall. He originally came to qb3 in 2006 as a UCSF Fellow in the Systems Biology program after receiving his PhD at the University of Toronto. The Krogan Lab is comprised of 18 both wet bench and computational lab researchers. Their studies focus on the development of tools that allow for the generation, analysis and visualization of large-scale, quantitative genetic and physical interaction maps. Ultimately, they attempt to integrate the physical and genetic interaction data in a biologically meaningful way so that hypotheses about specific biological phenomenon can be generated and ultimately tested.
See their recent publication in Cell: "Functional Organization of the S. cerevisiae Phosphorylation Network"
Nevan's favorite aspect of his work at qb3 is interacting with the excellent scientists in the UCSF community. His words to live by are "never give up".
